A Happy Farewell...At Least for Us

So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye to Bobby Kravitz and Colin Cowherd!!!

1070-AM The Fan (WFNI) has given Bob Kravitz the boot from the weekday afternoon "Kravitz and Eddie" show. Hehehehehehehe. Unfortunately, the powers at Emmis left Eddie White to host the show with multiple co-hosts to help out, including Kravitz on a part-time basis, i.e. unpaid. While we here at LomHenn.com are not huge fans of Bob Kravitz, I'm even less thrilled with Eddie White. I guess Emmis felt they could get away with it since WNDE 1260-AM dumped JMV for Mark Patrick (bad move) and XL-950-AM requires aluminum foil and gymnastics moves in order to tune in anywhere north of 56th Street.

Emmis stated that the motivator was financial in nature and not a slam on Kravitz. Yeah, right, and monkeys might fly out of my butt! And next month when Emmis adds a permanent co-host to the show again, then what are you going to say? That Eddie sucks ass as a solo act? Obviously since they've stated he will have a revolving door of part-time co-hosts.

Emmis has also reshuffled their lineup to move the Dan Dakich Show from a 10am to 1pm time slot to noon to 3pm. As a result the Colin Cowherd Show aired by ESPN is now caput. This is a good/bad thing. While I really had a hard time listening to Colin, he was typically good for some fodder for LomHenn.com. It will be interesting to see how the ratings go for 1070 having local content from noon till 6pm, or even longer on some nights.

**See EDIT below**

I guess we still have Kravitz to deal with in the paper and your faithful crew of LomHenn.com will be ever ready to tell Kravitz what a fucktard he is.

**EDIT** - Sorry, I guess I should actually read everything in an article, huh? I missed in all of the show shuffling that Joe Staysniak will host a mid-morning show from 10am to noon weekdays. So now 1070 will be almost all local all the time from 10am to 6pm or later. I really don't think we have that much going on Indy to warrant local hosts for 8+ hours on weekdays. Granted, I think most of the ESPN radio hosts suck major assage, but at least you got some national news and input. Now you will get to hear the same things over and over and over and over and over and.... Personally, I don't think it's going to work as well as Emmis thinks it will. My bet is that they will be reshuffling things again by September.

I think I've got a paper cut...who's got some lemon juice?

WFNI - Brainless Broadcasting

We all know that sports talk radio in general has its flaws. While there are diamonds in the rough on the radio dials, idiots that think they are experts proliferate the airwaves. In the past 24 hours I have heard a couple of whoppers that make me shake my head.

Last night on the Kravitz and Eddie Show on WFNI 1070AM, I heard this lovely tidbit from Eddie White:

"The only time you see sports on the front page is when there is bad news," regarding an article on the Indiana Pacers' statement they need help from the city to help pay the $15 million per year in facility costs of Conseco Fieldhouse.

Really, Eddie? They only put bad news on the front of the newspaper? What kind of fucktard are you?!?

I'm pretty sure that when the Colts won Super Bowl XL, that was on the front page of the Star. The front page of the Sunday edition of the Star after the Indiana Boys High School Basketball State Finals always has a story on the finals. The day after the Indianapolis 500 always has a picture of the winner on the front page.

It may seem that the front page only has bad news, but come on! Eddie, you've been hanging out with Bob to long and it is starting to rot what little brains you had left.

Then just a few minutes ago on the Tirico and Van Pelt Show again on WFNI, Mike Tirico dropped this shit-bomb of a comment on the Butler-Cleveland State game (paraphrasing):

"You know, I was watching the last two minutes of the game last night and I was thinking that Butler lost the game so that two teams would make the tournament and make more money for the conference."

Yes, Mike feels that Butler tanked on purpose since they are a lock to make the Big Dance and letting Cleveland State win give the Horizon League two teams in tournament and resulting in a large piece of the tournament revenue pie. While it is true that the Horizon League, Butler and Cleveland State will benefit financially since Cleveland State won, you have got to be fucking kidding me if you fucking think that Butler fucking threw in the towel so they could fucking get more fucking money out the deal!

You fucking fuckheaded fucktard!

Mike, I thought you sucked to begin with, but you have reached a new level of fucktardedness. You are not quite down to the level of Tony Kornheiser or Bud Selig, but you are close. The only reason I listen to you is because I hate the shows on the other two shows in your time slot more than yours (and shit like this that I can post here).

So basically WFNI and ESPN Radio are staffed by idiots, but then we already knew that didn't we.

XL Error

I enjoy rooting for the underdog a lot of the time. Since WFNI 1070 am started as a all-sports radio station, my XL 950 am sports station is a distant third for sports radio stations in a medium-sized market. I think they have a much better afternoon show (The Zone with Rake & Woch) than 1070's Kravitz and Eddie, but that just my personal opinion.

However, they are not doing themselves any favors on their website with little blurbs like this one:

Crunch Time

The Indiana Fever forced a Game 3 with a thrilling 98-92 overtime win in Detroit on Sunday. They'll have to repeat that feat tonight if they want to continue playing basketball this season. The deciding game of the best-of-three WNBA Playoff series between the Shock and Fever takes place tonight from the Palace. Detroit has knocked Indiana out of the playoffs the last two seasons. The winner of tonight's game will advance to take on Connecticut in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Nothing really wrong with this paragraph. It gives me all of the pieces of information I needed to know - Game 2 score, forcing a Game 3, the fact Detroit has knocked the Fever out the past two seasons, etc. There is only one, small problem with this blurb.

THE CONNECTICUT SUN ARE NOT IN THE WNBA EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS!!!!

The Sun were knocked out last night by the New York Liberty, you 'tards! I'm not a real fan of the WNBA, but I do passively root for the home team. Just by parsing through the sports pages online I was able to notice that the Sun lost last night and were eliminated from the playoffs.

You work at a sports-centric job. How the hell do you make this error? I think I know who maintains the website and this person is from Connecticut. I'm guessing he was asleep at the wheel while writing this.

I was hoping my guys would be able to keep themselves off our site, but I can't give them a pass on this one.

Best of Both Worlds

No, this is not a Hannah Montana entry.

Personally, one part of the Olympics I have enjoyed the most is the fact that Bob Kravitz has been in China reporting on the games for The Indianapolis Newspaper Monopoly and has taken a break from his spot on the Kravitz and Eddie show on WFNI 1070. While I do not listen to that show as much as another local sports talk show, I have listened more since he is not on the air. Its been nice.

The second best thing is that Bob is half a world away in China. Unfortunately, his columns are still being printed, albeit only every two or three days.

Since we have Yao Ming in the States, is there any chance China can keep Kravitz???

Ahhh, one can only hope.
