Butler Fight Song - Alternative Lyrics

Having attended several Butler Bulldog basketball games over the past few years, you get to hear the Butler Fight Song many times. I also know several Butler alums and pretty much none of them know or never even knew the song lyrics when they attended.

So Slut, Zinglebert and I got together and have made up our own set of lyrics which we find much more enjoyable. Click here to listen to the song and you too can sing along!

This is the Butler Fight Song, I don't know the words
This is the Butler Fight Song, I still don't know the words
This is the Butler Fight Song, I really don't know the words
This is the Butler Fight Song, what the fuck are the words
What the fuck are the words!

Yes, a quick Internet search could find us the correct Butler War Song lyrics, but what's the fun in that? We like our version much, much better.

Many at Lom Henn know that these alternative lyrics to Butler's fight song drive me, Henn Mother, absolutley batty. It goes against my very nature to promote and encourage their usage.

So, to dissuade the total idiocy of the alterna-lyrics, I've decided to post the actual lyrics to the Bulter War Song.

We'll sing the Butler war song,
We'll give a fighting cry;
We'll fight the Butler battle--
Bulldogs ever do or die.
And in the glow of the victory firelight,
Hist'ry cannot deny
To add a page or two
For Butler's fighting crew
Beneath the Hoosier sky.

From an IU alumna to those of you at Lom Henn who attended Butler University, shame! However, I will state...for the record...the lyrics are a little lame.

A little lame? The lyrics are a lotta lame, if you ask me.

Of course, I never knew the lyrics, either. What's funny is the writer took out the "o" in "history" to make the line fit the music, but could have just changed "cannot" to "can't" and done the same thing.

I, for one, think Butler should embrace our alternative lyrics as the new official lyrics.

Okay, maybe that's not realistic.

Butler may not embrace our version of the lyrics, but that will not stop me from singing them at Butler events...unless Hortencia and Hildegard are around and then I have to actually behave myself.
